Mental Metrics Lab
A mental skills development system for athlete performance

Assess. Analyze. Achieve.

A structured mental performance system for athlete development.

Mental skills deserve the same structure as physical, technical, and tactical development. We assess where athletes are at, analyze what they need next, and help them achieve through practical action.

The missing piece
The problem

Mental development is the missing piece.

Physical gets tested. Skills get video-reviewed. Conditioning gets logged. Mental development still runs on gut feel.

That isn't a system — and it means athletes grow without the mental infrastructure they need.

What MML is — and isn't

A development partner. Not a questionnaire vendor.

The value isn't the assessment. It's trusted interpretation, practical guidance, and a process that turns insight into action.

What we are

  • An integrated system: assessment, expert interpretation, and development tools
  • A way to know where athletes are, what to develop next, and how
  • Mental development that runs alongside physical and technical systems
  • Practitioner-led, evidence-informed, built for sport

What we are not

  • × A personality test or psychometric profiling tool
  • × A wellness survey or one-size-fits-all skills program
  • × A therapy or clinical service
  • × A report mill that sells data without helping you act on it
The framework

From insight to action.

One progression: a clear picture, focused priorities, deliberate development. Assessment is the starting point — the athletes’ progress is the product.

Phase 01

Assess

Get an objective baseline. Backed by a validated, peer-reviewed instrument, we capture the psychological characteristics tied to the developing athlete — a starting point for real conversations, not labels.

Phase 02

Analyze

Turn data into priorities. Expert interpretation and tailored feedback position how each athlete’s characteristics contribute to their performance and development — and what to focus on next. Those results roll up into a de-identified group-level picture for the coach.

Phase 03

Achieve

Make it stick. Ongoing support through the MML Performance Lab, coach support to bring mental training into their environments, and advisory guidance from MML practitioners to customize training for the group.

Reassess — measure mental growth like you measure physical growth and changes
Choose your commitment

From insight, to action, to transformation.

Core Insight

Know exactly where to focus.
Every athlete gets their own results across the six mental-performance factors, with feedback on what it means and where to grow. Coaches receive a group report and support guidance, never individual results.

Performance Pathway

Turn the plan into measurable progress.
Building on everything in Core Insight, a Performance Lab of training exercises matched to each factor, a guide for weaving mental training into the group’s environment, and a refresh every four to six months.

Premium Advisory

Expert judgment, embedded in your program.
Building on Performance Pathway, with the Performance Lab adapted to each phase of your season, group engagement insights, and ongoing coach check-ins with an MML practitioner.
Who we support

Built for the people who develop athletes.

Youth & Amateur Sport Organizations
Professional Sport & Player Development Departments
High School/Post-Secondary Athletic Departments
National Sport Organizations/Provincial Sport Organizations
Sport Academies/Independent Schools
Training Facilities & Development Centres
Our non-negotiable principles

Development before selection

Assessment guides growth and support — it is never used to gatekeep, exclude, or label athletes.

Evidence-informed practice

Decisions are informed by research and refined through applied practice.

Athlete privacy & ethical data use

Aligned with the highest level of professional ethics and standards.

Why we’re doing this

Because the mental side shouldn’t be left to chance.

We built Mental Metrics Lab because we believe mental skills can be developed like any other skill: assessed honestly, trained deliberately, and measured over time.

If you’ve spent time around athletes, you’ve seen it. The player with all the tools who tightens up when it matters. The athlete told to “be more confident” with no idea how. That’s not a failure of effort — it’s a gap in the system.

Every other part of development has one. Strength gets tested. Skills get filmed. Conditioning gets logged. The mental side has simply been the exception — confidence, focus, composure, and resilience left to chance. Athletes can train the skills necessary to execute on those outcomes. And training responds to structure.

So that’s what we built: assessment to know where each athlete is at, analysis to know what they need next, and practical work to get them there. Not to rank athletes. Not to select them. To develop them — every one of them.
